Solara Roman is a practical and elegant motorized solution to control summer heat gain and glare on sunrooms, solariums and conservatories. As the name suggests, the system works like a Roman shade, folding the fabric as the shade is opened. Sunscreen, privacy shade cloth or blackout fabric is held in place using an innovative, double tube design, telescopic glider pins and side-tracks. This allows for smooth and reliable operation of shades for up to 36” wide by virtually any length. Our "gravity-drop" system requires a minimum 3/12 roof pitch. For low pitch sunrooms or flat roofs, a special drive belt system is incorporated within add on aluminum side tracks.
SolaraRoman uses a variety of motor options, including 120 volt AC Somfy, 24 volt DC Lutron and 24 volt DC Gaposa drives. The shades can be controlled by a wall switch, hand held remote transmitter or integrated into a 3rd party home automation system via RS232.
The key to SolaraRoman’s perfect side by side alignment is our “no sew” inner / outer aluminum tube design. A hollow inner tube has a small extended tab, which allows for a clean visual line rather than “stitching" from a sewing machine. A slightly larger outer tube slides over the inner tube and fabric, holding everything neatly in place. UV resistant polycarbonate glider pins slide into the inner tube and the head of the pin fits directly into a Four Seasons Sunroom glazing bar. For non-Four Seasons Sunrooms, we supply a small white or bronze add on track to ensure a perfect attachment of the shade. Like SolaraShade, SolaraRoman conforms perfectly to the curvature or angle of any sunroom structure.
